About

Agiles Memes is just that.  It’s a collection of ideas that have come out of my head relating to agile and lean methodologies.  Hopefully some of them will ring true with others and as such they will continue to propagate and grow towards becoming true memes.

As for a bit about me;  I am Piers Saye and  I am an agile and lean coach based in London, UK.  My background is in software development, group facilitation and more recently Neuro Linguistic Programming and a little property development.

I have recently been working as a trainer and facilitator, providing coaching and consulting services to teams looking to make the transition from traditional methodologies (or no methodology) to a leaner, more agile, trust-centric and team-focused way of working.

My current focus is on Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum and Kanban. I offer training classes to explore the principles and practices of these and other Agile processes. I use a fairly fast-paced and some would say American style of “immersive learning” for teams, ideally working on existing problems using real world data that is familiar to the team.  I find that this provides a very effective method for participants to absorb a great deal of knowledge very quickly.  Knowledge that is not just learned but ingrained through the act of doing rather than viewing.

I am also an advocate of Neuro Linguistic Programming, as a master practitioner I aim to coach teams not just in the methods of how to ‘do’  and more importantly be Agile but also how to communicate more effectively both internally and externally.  This is something that I promote not just within the team but in the broader scheme of life. The tools that I teach can be applied as much in your workplace as with your doctor, family and friends.

I am very interested in personal and organisational development and strongly believe that there is complete synergy to be gained from both working with the individual and by the individual working with the team.  I believe that self-management, management by group consensus and empirical learning are key to effective communication and productivity both for the individual and the organisation.

I would love to hear from you if you have ideas or thoughts, if you agree or disagree.  I am open to discussion and debate though if you strongly disagree with me, I’d prefer that you contact me directly rather than using the blog for a flame war!
